A six-month old baby may have died of shock after an aggressive hen attacked him at a farm in Shikokhwe village in Malava, Kakamega County.
According to the baby’s mother, Robai Toboko, the hen was protecting her chicks when the incident happened
Toboko said her son Haggai Bushuru was attacked by the hen while in her arms.
“ The child was in my arms but he kept moving his arms wanting to reach for the chicks. That’s when the hen charged at him and he started crying – He cried until he collapsed,” she said.
Toboko called for help from neighbours but efforts to resuscitate the baby did not materialize and he was pronounced dead.
The hen and the chicks have allegedly been killed.
