Celebrated gospel musician Bony Mwaitege is alive and kicking, the musician’s wife has confirmed. This is contrary to earlier reports that the singer had died in a road accident.
Earlier online reports said Mwaitege had passed on after being involved in a grisly road accident in Tanzania.
Speaking to Ayo TV, Mwaitege’s wife said her husband was alive and was resting at home.
“Bony Mwaitege is alive and well, and he’s arrived safely in Tanzania from Kenya. Ignore reports that he is dead.” She said.
Reports about the death of the gospel maestro were shared online on Monday, July 22.
As such, many fans followed the message, saying the musician’s songs had enriched their lives.
Bony Mwaitege started as a dancer for the late Tanzanian gospel musician, Ephraim Mwansasu.
Shortly afterwards, Mwaitege would discover his talent as a singer and release his first single, ‘Matendo’.
The single topped the charts in Tanzania and beyond and got him invited to perform in East Africa, including Kenya.
He then followed with an album, Mama ni Mama, which also went on to top the charts.
