Jubilee’s candidate in Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga lit up a campaign meeting with his flawless pronunciation of Kikuyu words.
Mariga was meeting Kikuyu community leaders when he recounted how Uhuru served him water before issuing him with Jubilee cap at State House on September 19, 2019.
“You know who gave me the cap…there were several MPs but Uhuru pulled me aside….then the President told me Uka guku (come here) akanambia ikara haha (sit here)..I sat down and he served me some water..” said Mariga in flawless pronunciation.
“He told me when campaigning in Kibra meet Gikuyu people because they will not fail you,” he added to the applause of the meeting.
He promised to work with people from all age groups in the area to initiate development projects.
Mariga, who began campaigns with a noticeable weak punch in his speeches is fast mutating into a crowd mover, complete with hilarious tidbits typical of Kenyan politicians.
Others candidates in the Kibra by-election race include Amani National Congress’ Eliud Owalo ODM’s Bernard Imran Okoth and Ford-Kenya’s aspirant Khamisi Butichi among other candidates.
