Former Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchellah Dead at 75

Former Kilgoris MP Gideon Sitelu Konchellah is dead.

His family confirmed that Konchellah, 75, died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

He was one of Narok County’s most influential political figures, serving as Kilgoris MP for several terms and leaving a significant mark on both local and national politics.

During his long political career, he served as Minister for Immigration and Registration of Persons in the administration of former President Mwai Kibaki and later represented Kilgoris Constituency in Parliament under different political formations.

Born in 1951, Konchellah first rose to national prominence in the early 2000s and became a dominant political force in the larger Narok South region.

He was elected MP for Kilgoris multiple times, including in 2002, 2007, 2013, and 2017, and remained an influential voice in Maa politics even after leaving elective office.

His death ends a political career that spanned over two decades, where he was involved in some of the most significant political battles in Narok County, including fierce battles with veteran politician Julius Sunkuli.
