Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi is dead. Tubi passed away on Tuesday evening, November 12, at Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula confirmed the news in a sombre statement, describing the first-term lawmaker as “a calm, diligent and patriotic leader who served with humility.”
Tubi, 55, had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness before his health deteriorated.
Family sources said he had been in and out of hospital in recent weeks.
Elected in August 2022 on a Jubilee Party ticket, Mohamed Tubi quickly earned respect across the political divide for his quiet but firm leadership.
In Parliament, he sat on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, as well as the Public Petitions Committee.
Before his election to the National Assembly, he served as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly between 2013 and 2017.
News of his death triggered an outpouring of grief from political leaders.
President Ruto mourned him as a dedicated public servant.
“Hon Tubi will be remembered as a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education, who believed in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity.”
“His commitment to transforming the lives of his constituents and advancing development in Isiolo stands as a lasting legacy of his leadership.”
