Elon Musk Secures Approval for Record $1 Trillion Tesla Pay Deal

Elon Musk-$1 trillion

Elon Musk has won shareholder approval for a $1 trillion (KSh 129 trillion) pay package. The pay package is the largest in corporate history, cementing his grip on Tesla’s future and reigniting global debate on executive pay.

More than 75 per cent of shareholders backed the plan at Tesla’s annual meeting in Austin, Texas.

The vote came after months of wrangling over whether Musk, already one of the world’s richest men, deserved such a huge reward.

Flanked by his dancing “Optimus” robots, Musk called the decision “a new book, not just a new chapter” in Tesla’s story.

High stakes

The deal doesn’t hand Musk cash or shares immediately. The $1 trilion pay is tied to performance milestones that would test even his appetite for risk.

To unlock the full payout, Tesla must reach a market cap of $8.5 trillion, sell 12 million vehicles annually, deploy one million robotaxis, and deliver one million humanoid robots.

If all targets are met, Musk’s stake would rise to around 25 per cent of the company, giving him unmatched control.

Critics cry foul

Not everyone is happy. The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, one of Tesla’s biggest investors, voted against the plan, calling it excessive and risky.

Others warned of over-reliance on a single figure and potential dilution for smaller shareholders.

But Tesla’s board insisted it was necessary. They argued Musk is instrumental in Tesla’s push into AI, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.

The investors believe these technologies may define the organisation’s future.

Admirers

To admirers, Musk is the visionary capable of remaking transport, energy, and even space. To sceptics, he’s a gambler whose promises often outpace delivery.

Either way, the message is clear: Tesla is betting everything on its maverick leader.

If Musk delivers, this deal could mark the dawn of the world’s first trillionaire.
