Police have arrested the main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo.

The girl, whom police say is a minor, was arrested Tuesday by DCI detectives after a tip-off by members of the public.

“The suspect, whom detectives have established is a juvenile aged 16, was arrested at Olymoic village in the sprawling Kibera slums last night after sleuths received information regarding her whereabouts,” said the DCI.

The suspect is currently being held at the Muthaiga Police Station, awaiting transfer to the Kilimani Police Station, which is handling the matter.

Maigo was found dead in his house in Woodley on September 15, and postmortem results revealed he was stabbed 25 times.

An earlier CCTV video released by DCI showed a girl escaping from the home of the victim by scaling the perimeter wall fortified by razor wire.

Earlier, police had arrested Cynthia Lusego Andalo, whom the court set free after evidence failed to place her at the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, Nairobi Hospital CEO James Nyamongo has recounted his last moments with Eric Maigo.

Nyamongo hailed the late Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director as among his most dedicated and dependable staff.

He revealed that on Thursday, September 14, they had a board meeting of the hospital’s Finance and Investments Committee, where Maigo made an impressive presentation.

They would later part ways, and that would become their last meeting.

It is very perplexing, especially to us, because I was the last person on that Thursday, which was on the 14th… I had interacted with him during our board’s Finance and Investment Committee meeting. We had made a very good presentation. I saw one of the ways he has delivered from a professional view.”

“We were to meet the following day, but that day never came, and it was really disheartening to find out the person I was with 12 hours ago was no more,” said Nyamongo.
