Donald Trump, the former president, has returned to X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter, after a more than two-year absence.
In his first new post on X since Twitter blocked his account following the violence at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Trump included a link to his website and a mug shot. The caption of the mugshot read, “Never surrender!”
Trump returned to X a day after the interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who now streams his talk shows on the platform.
According to the website’s statistics as of Thursday night, the 46-minute conversation with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson garnered roughly 250 million views.
The interview aired while the first Republican presidential debate took place on Wednesday night.
When Twitter banned Trump, the firm claimed that he had glorified violence and incited his fans to attack the Capitol through his statements on the site.
However, Elon Musk promised to reinstate Trump’s account after purchasing the social network for $44 billion in October.
Musk reinstated Trump’s account in November, although it had sat dormant since then.
For years, Trump relied on Twitter as a platform to shout down critics, rally supporters, and announce policy changes. He helped found his own social network, Truth Social, after the ban.

Trump used Twitter and other social media platforms to claim that his loss in the 2020 election was the result of massive voter fraud.
Trump’s return to X attracted mixed reactions:
