Embattled Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru on Saturday, June 20 filed responses against allegations made by Kirinyaga County MCAs who are seeking to impeach her.
The responses were submitted to the Office Clerk of the Senate by among others Waiguru’s husband Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo who led the legal team.

“We have filed all responses substantive to all the charges levelled against the governor,” Waiganjo told journalists.
According to lawyer Paul Nyamodi, the responses were contained in 40 carton boxes marked ‘Kirinyaga County Government’.
“The responses are contained in 40 cartons and it is unfortunate to the people of Kirinyaga that the matter reached here. We shall let the Senate do its work. We look forward to the hearing next week,” Nyamodi said.
Moments after the responses were filed, Waiguru shared photos of the carton boxes on her Twitter page saying that she hopes truth, justice and the rule of Law will prevail.
“In compliance with the Senate’s request I have today filed my responses to the impeachment motion filed for my removal from office by the Kirinyaga County Assembly. May Truth, Justice & the rule of Law prevail,” she said in a Tweet.
The county boss managed to beat her Saturday deadline to file the responses and also specify her mode appearance, either in person, by an advocate or both.
Waiguru and her accusers are now set to face off before a special committee chaired by Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala when the hearing beings on Tuesday.
“I have full confidence in my legal team and believe my response is sound. Let’s allow senate to do its work. I have confidence in the rule of law and believe that Truth & Justice will be our shield and defender,” Waiguru said in a Facebook post.
Kirinyaga County Speaker also had until Saturday to submit the names of MCAs or advocates that will represent the Assembly and specify the mode of appearance.
