Uhuru Orders Countrywide Crackdown on Boda Boda Operators

President
Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered a countrywide crackdown on Boda Boda riders
following the sexual assault incident along Forest Road.

The
uncouth act that took place on the eve of International Women’s Road along
Forest Road has drawn public condemnation with Kenyans on social media calling
on the government to crack whip on the rogue operators.

Uhuru,
who spoke strongly against the incident, ordered the immediate re-registration
of the Boda Boda riders in efforts aimed at regulating the sector.

He further warned politicians against politicising tha matter in a bid to gain squeeze political mileage, saying the government would not relent until there was order in the sector.

He
further called on the leaders of the various Boda Boda outfits to smoke out the
bad apples, adding some of the operators were people with good morals.

The President who laced his words with steel warned the riders will not be allowed to
perpetrate crimes that include harassing pedestrians and motorists.

 “We
want to support the bodaboda business but it is not a license for a boda boda
to do drive-by shootings. And most definitely it is not a license for you to
strip and remove dignity from our women.

We
will re-register all bodabodas. Wale wanataka kupiga siasa wapige” he said in
the elaborate celebration graced by the Rwandan First Lady Jeanette Kagame at
the Kenya School of Government.”
