The swearing-in of James Nyoro as Kiambu governor after the impeachment of Ferdinand Waititu has been postponed.
A short note by the Judiciary said the exercise had been put off because of unavoidable circumstances.
“For unavoidable reasons, the swearing in of Dr James Nyoro will not be conducted today. A new date will be communicated in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the note read.
An earlier statement by the Judiciary had stated that Justice John Onyiengo would preside over the ceremony set to be held at the county headquarters in Kiambu town.
Waititu was impeached by the MCAs on December 19, 2019, a decision upheld by the Senate on Wednesday, January 29 after a plenary voting.
He was facing three charges among them gross violation of the constitution, abuse of office and crime under the national law.
