Mombasa BBI: Ezekiel Mutua slams MP Joshua Kutuny for propagating divisive politics

Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has castigated Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny for propagating divisive politics during the Mombasa Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally.

During the rally held at Mama Ngina Waterfront, Kutuny worked up the crowd by castigating the Tanga Tanga leaders who have since declared total support for the process.

“ Wamekuja wametwambia baba ni baba lakini sijasikia wakiomba msamaha baba wakati walimwita mganga,” said Kutuny to the cheering crowd.

The MP further crushed the leaders allied to Deputy President saying BBI was like a Tsunami and the former had no choice.

“ Nilisimama juzi nikasema baba na Uhuru wakiungana ni Tsunami.  Wametambua ama hawajatambua,” said the legislator.

Writing on Facebook, Mutua said it was wrong for leaders to use the BBI platform to insult other leaders.

“Peace-loving Kenyans should condemn and reject the divisive and confrontational tone in the BBI debate such as what’s being championed by people like Kutuny.

BBI is for uniting the nation, not dividing people. Anyone who disrespects the President or Rt Hon. Raila Odinga should not be entertained. Similarly, we cannot have people insulting other national leaders in the name of the BBI.”

Mutua said politicians, while nursing different opinions, had a moral obligation to set a good example of tolerance and respect especially when addressing the public.

He called on media to give a blackout to warmongering politicians and allocate airtime to those who preach peace.

Earlier, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen lit the crowd with good cheer after addressing ODM leader Raila Odinga using the popular moniker of ‘Baba’and  saying he supported a referendum call.
