Migori: Legio Maria church members’ clash leaves 5 dead, several injured

A section of Legio Maria Church members from Migori church found themselves in a pandemonium after a rival group got into a brawl with them resulting to injuries and deaths.

The fight ensued when Raphael Adika, who is the church leader in Amoyo arrived at the event with his followers when the other group, God Kweru were in the middle of a ceremony celebrating Milkio Ondeto the founder of the religious group.

Adika and his followers were nobbled by Lawrence Kalul who was leading the church members.

The confrontation brought about a full blown fight.

The brawl turned into chaos as the church members bombard stones to Adika’s team.

In the melee, the rival group burnt a car belonging to Adika and injuried several members.

The increasingly big fight brought attention to police who were forced to lob teargas at the church members in a bid to separate them.

Unfortunately, the tumult led to five deaths and two others sustained severe injuries.

Last year, Migori police commander increased security patrols at the ‘holy ground’ ahead of their annual pilgrimage.
