Harambee stars striker Michael Olunga’s Twitter account has been verified after a campaign was pushed by Kenyans on Twitter (KOT).
Most of the striker fans wanted him to get a blue badge and so they joined in the campaign pleading to twitter using the hash tag #VerifyOlunga.

Olunga had started the plea before Kenyans online joined to boost the request.
“Hey @Twitter @TwitterSupport. Would be nice to have a blue badge. Do something,” he pleaded with Twitter back in August 19,2020
His fans commented asking why Twitter could not have verified the account for Olunga yet he has risen to fame very fast and is popularly known.
Luckily after days of patience and hope the player was granted his wish.
A blue badge to show that his page is verified appeared next to his Twitter username.
The Kashiwa reysol talisman has then been thanking his fans who helped in making his campaign a success.
“Wadau wa #KOT asantenti sana kwa #VerifyOlunga. Naona twitter wamecheza kama hao wakanijenga hio blue badge. @REYSOL_Official shukran kwa kuskuma pande yenyu pia,” he tweeted.
Having a verified account is a defensive move against the untold number of impersonators, satirists, trolls and hatemongers who roam freely on Twitter.

Oftentimes the dynamic between fans and celebrities or public figures on Twitter is only rewarding if the authenticity of the user being followed is endorsed.
