Kevin Omwenga: Businessman shot dead in Kilimani apartment

Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, August 22, arrested two suspects in connection to the murder of businessman Kevin Omwenga.

Reports indicate that Omwenga, 28 was shot dead at his apartment in Galana Suites, Kilimani estate.

Robert Bodo was arrested alongside Chris Obure in possession of a mini Ceska firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition.

It is suspected that the fire arm was used in the murder of the businessman.

“Detectives based at Kilimani have this morning arrested Robert Bodo and recovered a Mini Ceska firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition suspected to have been used in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man at Galana Suites in Kilimani,” reads the statement.

According to a police report, the deceased’s brother, Wycliff Omwenga was preparing dinner in the kitchen, when he heard a gunshot.

On rushing there, he found Bodo in a hurry to leave, on entering the bedroom Wycliff found Kevin lying, face down, with blood oozing from his chest.

Wycliff rushed his brother to the Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Adams branch where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Bodo reportedly joined them at the hospital later that evening after which they all proceeded to Kilimani police station.

Bodo led the police to Senteu Plaza where the gun and ammunition were discovered.

The gun was found kept in a safe in an office which allegedly belongs to Obure.

Obure is also suspected to be the owner of the firearm.
