A 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, March 4 in Bartera village, Kericho county after he killed his pregnant sister after a family squabble.
The man, Amos Cheruiyot is reported to have been fighting with his uncle over a parcel of land when he accidentally wounded her sister.
The woman identified as Caroline Chepkorir and who was three-month pregnant died while attempting to separate her brother and uncle who were fighting.
According to Borowet location chief Geoffrey Chirchir, the suspect arrived home drunk on Tuesday night armed with a panga and started causing trouble.
The man woke up his uncle whom he accused of despising his mother. When the uncle woke up a ferocious fight ensued between the two.
The deceased who heard the commotion tried to separate the two but the panga in the hands of the brother cut her on the thigh as the suspect tried to hack his uncle.
The woman sustained a deep wound where she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The suspect is being held at Kipkelion Police Station awaiting arraignment.
