Joho slams DP Ruto over his donations

Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has slammed Deputy President William Ruto for showing sudden concerns and generosity to the youths.

Speaking during a political meeting in Mombasa, Joho wondered why the DP decided to make donations in 2020 even after staying in power since 2013.

The governor claimed that DP Ruto’s intention is to trick Kenyans ahead of 2022 general elections.

“One William Ruto we are now in 2020, he has been the deputy president since 2013. 2020, you are asking the youths whether they need motorcycles, bicycles, wheelbarrows,” he said.

He added that Ruto has no intentions of helping the poor but rather lie to them in oder to acquire their votes.

The government has big plans to better the lives of Kenyans. We should elect leaders due to their ideas and vision and not because they tell you they are as poor as you are,” Joho said.

This came days after ODM party leader Raila Odinga questioned DP Ruto’s huge donations to churches and the youths.

Raila said DP Ruto’s salary is not enough to allow him to give out huge amounts of money.

You see him (Ruto) giving out wheelbarrows, motorbikes and water tanks to the youth to do business. How can one man donate KSh 100 million in a month yet his salary is less than KSh 2 million? He posed before adding: “Where does he get all these money and it is not accounted for by the government?” He posed.

Responding to the matter, the DP urged Kenyans to forgive Raila for he cannot understand the ways of a ‘hustler’.

“I forgive that man (Raila). His father was a vice president and was born and driven on a car. He was taken to a supermarket and didn’t go to a kiosk or knew what a boda boda is. Let’s just forgive him because hajui mambo ya mahustlers (He isn’t aware what hustling means),” Ruto said in response
