Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has appealed to Kiambu residents to elect him Senator in 2022.
Speaking during the swearing in of James Nyoro as Kiambu governor on Friday, January 31, Mwaura gave a strong hint he will contest for an elective post in 2022.
He asked the residents to elect him to a leadership position saying he has been one of the most consistent voices in the impeachment of Ferdinand Waititu.
“Jamani next time mnihurumie. Sio kila wakati kuwa nominated,” said Mwaura.
The nominated MP went on to praise his performance during Waititu’s impeachment.
“Mimi sio Seneta wa Kiambu lakini mimi ndio niko hapa. Kule Bunge mmeona vile tumepigana,” added the legislator.
“Mwana uri kiyo ndagaga mureri,” recapitulated the MP in Gikuyu .(A hardworking child will always find to guide them to greatness).
Kimani wa Matangi, the current Senator of Kiambu was not at the function.
Mwaura was first nominated to Parliament by ODM party in 2013. He jumped ship to Jubilee shortly before the 2017 poll and was later nominated by the party to Senate.
Waititu was impeached by the MCAs on December 19, 2019, a decision upheld by the Senate on Wednesday, January 29 after a plenary voting.
During the impeachment motion, Mwaura castigated Waititu as a “thief” forcing some of his colleagues to ask him to tone down lest he perceived to hold a grudge against Waititu.
Waititu was facing three charges among them gross violation of the constitution, abuse of office and crime under the national law.
