A family in Homa Bay County has been thrown into mourning following the death of their loved one.
Evans Odhiambo, 23, who worked as a nurse at Ngodhe Island dispensary reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Sunday, January 31.

Reports indicate that the deceased showed no signs of amiss before his sudden death.
The deceased had been employed to work under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) scheme in May 2020 and was working under the county government.
Confirming the incident, Mbita Sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Commander Philip Sang said Odhiambo did not leave behind a suicide note, saying that they are yet to establish the cause of his death.

Homa Bay County Health Executive Richard Muga noted that the nurse was dedicated to his work, further revealing that he had not even joined his colleagues in the ongoing health worker’s strike.
