Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, June 25 met carpenters Kelvin Odari and Stephen Odhiambo whose unique moving seat went viral on social media.
In a video widely shared on social media, the DP met the duo at his Karen office where he made an order of five benches worth KSh 150,000.

After the meeting, the carpenters collected KSh 100,000 down payment, leaving KSh 50,000 balance which will be paid to them after delivering the order next week.
“I was privileged to meet and interact with Stephen Odhiambo and Dennis Otieno, two enterprising Kenyans with innovative ideas on garden furniture. I was thrilled by their cutting-edge skills and efforts,” DP Ruto said on Twitter.
This comes two weeks after the Ngong-based carpenters revealed that they had received over 700 orders with 11 clients already having paid for one each.
“Huwa naingia nyumbani six, nakuambia kutoka saa hiyo ilikuwa simu juu ya simu hadi kitu kama saa sita na nusu,” said Odhiambo in an interview with Citizen TV.
The bench which costs KSh 22,000 a piece can accommodate three well-fed persons but when extended it takes up to six people facing each other complete with a table.
