Deputy President William Ruto has launched and commissioned various national government projects in Kwale County.
The DP, on Saturday, September 14, launched the construction of Pemba Dam Intake and Treatment Works which is expected to cost KSh 286 million.
Ruto said the dam is expected to serve 800,000 Kwale residents and a section of Mombasa county.
“Dams enable farmers to increase their yields; act as water reservoirs, which enhances food production, stimulating food security. They provide clean water for domestic purposes, livestock use and irrigation,” he said.
The DP also opened Lunga Lunga Technical and Vocational College that will accommodate 1,000 students.
“Vocational training produces competent and capable youth, whose skills, energy and intensity will drive our Big Four agenda. It builds stronger, progressive societies,” the DP added.
