Deputy President William Ruto has slammed Raila Odinga for pushing for constitutional amendments to advance his personal interests .
Ruto claimed the ODM leader was using the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as a guise to advance his political pursuits.
Ruto who was speaking at Upper Baricho Primary School in Kirinyaga County during a fundsdrive in aid of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Sunday, September 8 challenged Raila to state exact sections of the constitution he wanted amended.
“It is only this man of vitendawili (riddles) who wants laws to be changed and that is why he has come up with Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which a bother to Kenyans as it asks them questions which can’t help them improve their livelihoods,” said Ruto
He said the BBI was doomed to fail and appealed to Jubilee legislators to focus on development projects in their constituencies.
“Kenyans want clean water, good roads and electricity and the BBI is wasting its time. Members of BBI should tell Raila to call of his his mission,” said the DP.
The BBI task force was formed after the March 9 2018 handshake between President Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The task force has so far finished gathering views on ethnicity, inclusivity, security, shared responsibility and rights and is expected to release a report in less than two months.
