Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has forbidden students from using hand sanitizers in schools.
Magoha directed teachers to take responsibility and acquire all small-bottled sanitizers from students.
According to the Education boss the alcohol-based product can be used by students to start fires.
Magoha made the announcement while at Our Lady of Fatima Girls Secondary School in Kariobangi North on Wednesday, January 20.
“ If any child has portable sanitiser, it should be taken and kept and given when the child is leaving school, we have already seen that a fire was started using a sanitiser in one of our schools,” Magoha remarked.
Magoha had earlier directed students to carry only five liters of the hand sanitizer.
He stated that limiting the students from carrying more litres could lower major destructions.
