The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has ruled out sneaking politics in the shooting incident involving Embakasi MP Babu Owino.
In a message posted on Twitter and which is regarded as the official position of the orange party, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the issue was a criminal matter and beyond the political party.
“Matters of alleged criminal conduct are beyond the realm of a political party. The law enforcement agencies are in charge.
ODM is subordinate to the law of the land. Our concern at the moment is with the victim of this extremely unfortunate incident.”
Sifuna was responding to Kabando wa Kabando who challenged the party to come out strongly and chase the MP from the party.
“On this grave Babu Owino matter, the country deserves an immediate statement from @TheODMparty. My friend @RailaOdinga, dewhip the MP NOW. Show the country you’re wholly intolerant to impunity, that you care. Disapprove critics that you protect allies criminal,” wrote Kabando.
Already DCI George Kinoti has said Owino will be charged with attempted murder. The ODM legislator was arrested on Friday morning after allegedly shooting DJ Evolve of B-Club.
He is being held at Kilimani Police Station pending arraignment on Monday.
