MP Jaguar says Brenda, Brian’s ‘debatable’ recovery threat to COVID-19 fight

Jaguar insisted that the press conference misled Kenyans who have turned it into a heated debate online with some Kenyans now taking the threat casually.

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua aka Jaguar has slammed the government’s decision to reveal the identity of 2 patients who reportedly recovered from COVID-19.

Jaguar intimated the doubts surrounding the narrative of the recovery of the two patients is likely to negate the government’s fight against the novel coronavirus.

Kenyans have been poking holes at the inconsistencies of Brenda Cherotich during several TV interviews he held after her call with the president.

On Thursday, April 2 the MP shared a video of unidentified woman said to be infected with the virus calling out Kenyans to strictly follow the measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

Jaguar insisted that the press conference misled Kenyans who have turned it into a heated debate online with some Kenyans now taking the threat casually.

“The images we saw yesterday led to unintended consequences. For example, Kenyans are now debating Brenda and Brian’s story. Some are viewing this threat casually. We need images that inspire behavioral change. For now, I urge Kenyans to stop this debate. Instead, follow the recommended guidelines. We shall overcome,” he wrote.

On Wednesday, April 1, the legislator posted that his constituents were no longer afraid of COVID-19 after seeing that the disease as “curable at govt’s expense”.

“I’ve received calls from my constituents telling me that they’re now even more afraid of hunger than they were of COVID-19. They can see it’s curable at Govt’s expense. Was that press conference with Brenda & Brian a good idea? Did President Uhuru Kenyatta’s advisers fail him?” Posed the MP
