Rwanda has legalised cultivation and exportation of cannabis sativa a drug which is highly addictive mainly smoked or mixed with food.
The country has approved the drug but it has remained illegal for recreational and medical purposes.

The Rwandan government approved the highly addictive stimulant in order to gain export profit of about $345 billion according to a report by New Frontier Data.
The decision has caused different reactions from the members of public who said that if tough rules will not be enforced then the stimulant will be harmful to the youths.
The country’s Minister of Health Doctor Daniel Ngamije made it clear that the plant was only approved for countries profit and it is not allowed for consumption within the country.
He warned the drug abusers and dealers of engaging in the business because the law against narcotics is still enforced.
“This will not give an excuse for drug abusers and dealers. The law against narcotics is available and it will continue to be enforced,” Dr Ngamije said on state-run television Rwanda Broadcasting Agency on Tuesday.
On Monday, October 14 a Cabinet meeting chaired by the country’s President Paul Kagame, made the confirmation of the cultivation, processing, and export of “high-value therapeutic crops”.

The document provided from the meeting could not reveal that the plant reffered to was marijuana but a source from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) revealed to the press.
