Bill Gates has regained the title of the world richest person after surpassing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Gates who is the Microsoft co-founder, attained net worth of 110 billion USD (about KSh 11 trillion) which topped Bezos’ total worth of $108.7 billion (KSh 10.9 trillion).
Gates briefly held the top spot last month after Amazon suffered a 28 per cent drop in profits the three months ending in September, but quickly lost the spot again to Bezos, CNN reports.
Gates’ rise to the top spot on Friday, November 15 was stimulated by a 48 per cent increase in Microsoft shares, which in turn lifted his net worth.
Bezo’s wealth has been affected by his divorce settlement with his former wife Mackenzie.
Bloomberg reported that the divorce settlement left her with 19.9 million shares of Amazon.com valued at more than $38 billion (3.8 trillion shillings).
