Aden Duale ousted as Majority Leader, replaced with Amos Kimunya

Aden Duale has been discharged as National Assembly Majority leader during a Parliamentary Group meeting chaired virtually by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya has replaced Duale and will now serve in the position for the remaining two years.

Speaking after the meeting, Kimunya thanked President Uhuru for proposing him to take up the position, adding he did not take the appointment lightly.

The Kipipiri MP further thanked his predecessor for his astute leadership in the eight years he served in the position.

He further said he will work tirelessly to deliver government business and make sure the Jubilee agenda succeeds.


“I do not take this appointment lightly; it is an honour. I appreciate the dedicated service Hon. Duale has rendered to this country, I know his commitment,” said Kimunya.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan has also been picked as the Secretary of the Jubilee Parliamentary Group In the changes aimed at giving Uhuru a team that will assist him to deliver on his promises.

The meeting further resolved that all committees are to be reconstituted on Thursday, June 25.

The ouster of Duale who during his eight-year tenure emerged as Jubilee’s staunchest supporter has elicited mixed reactions online.

Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka while congratulating Kimunya sarcastically slammed Uhuru for the action.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has failed to deliver his empty promises in 8 years. Let him reorganize his house, he has only two years to deliver his 10 years promises,” said Onyonka, adding:


“Congratulations Amos Kimunya on your appointment as National Assembly Majority Leader.”

Already, the party has expelled 16 MPs allied to DP Ruto from various parliamentary committees.
