Several months before his death the late Kipyegon Kenei was considering a transfer from Harambee Annex where he worked.
This is after he fell out with some of Deputy President William Ruto’s aides.
It has now emerged Kenei approached a certain cabinet secretary to help him acquire transfer to another designation.
However the minister urged Kenei who was the head of security to stay put and continue doing his work diligently.
The confidant told Nation that the CS who is a close ally of the DP told Kenei he could land a plum position if Ruto clinches the presidency in 2022.
“The CS a close ally of DP Rutio told Kenei that the DP had confidence in him and with the possibility of him being elected to State House in the 2022 General Elections, Kenei would be appointed to a good position” said the confidant.
Despite what Kenei was going through at work he never breathed a word to his family about his frustrations.
Apparently, Kenei was close to Ruto that he would carry out errands at his Sugoi home, something that his enemies detested.
Sergeant Kenei was found dead in his house in Imara Daima on the afternoon of Thursday, February 20.
The detectives have also established he was on duty the day the alleged mastermind of the KSh 39.5 billion fake arms deal Rashid Echesa visited the office.
Before his death, Kenei had sent KSh 35,000 and KSh 10,000 to his wife and father respectively.
What surprised the family is that Kenei sent the money a few days after leaving home where he had left them with enough money.
What’s more, his phone could not go through after the transactions. The family believes the transactions were done when Kenei was in the hands of his captives, his killers intending to make it appear like suicide.
Kenei’s father John Chesang is said to have called DP Ruto to ensure that credible investigations are held, the culprit found and brought to book.
Ruto promised them a thorough probe will be conducted. A post moterm was supposed to be conducted on Kenei’s body on Monday but the pathologist to come.
The autopsy will be conducted Wednesday, February 26.
