President William Ruto has announced a fresh wave of promotions, appointments and deployments in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), reshaping the military’s senior leadership as several officers assume key command positions and others exit through retirement.
The changes, approved following recommendations of the Defence Council, saw Major General John Maiso Nkoimo appointed Deputy Commander of the Kenya Army, replacing Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan, who has retired from service.
Before his promotion, Nkoimo served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command.
In the Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Mohamud Salah Farah was appointed Deputy Air Force Commander after serving as Base Commander at Laikipia Air Base.
President Ruto also promoted Brigadier William Kamoiro to Major General and appointed him GOC Central Command, filling the vacancy created by Nkoimo’s elevation.
Brigadier Peter Kipketer Limo was similarly promoted to Major General and named Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics at Defence Headquarters.
