Calvince “Gaucho” Okoth’s appointment to the board of Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital sparked debate, disbelief and then, in classic Kenyan fashion, a tidal wave of memes so sharp they could perform surgery themselves.
The internet seized the images shared by Gaucho from his first day at the hospital within hours and began remixing them into comedy gold.
In one frame, he stands before suited officials in green surgeon’s scrubs, stethoscope around his neck, looking every bit like a consultant about to lead a high-risk operation.

That collision between symbolism and reality became meme fuel.
Facebook, X, TikTok and WhatsApp timelines lit up like casualty wards on a Monday morning.
