Calvince “Gaucho” Okoth has addressed lewd reactions to his birthday celebration photos with Ida Odinga.

Gaucho’s birthday photos with Mama Ida Odinga exploded online. In one snapshot: Ida feeding him cake with a spoon. A moment that lit up timelines.

The image was surreal. Tender. Almost cinematic.

But as soon as the photos went public, netizens rushed in. Some said it looked straight out of AI fan art. Others joked it was the newest political romance trilogy.

On X, one user quipped, “When your godmother doubles as your campaign manager and your chef.”

Gaucho didn’t flinch. On Thursday, February 5, he issued a no-nonsense statement thanking fans for birthday wishes.

Then he turned on the critics. He called out a “few online riffraff” – people he accused of hijacking his photos to chase followers.

“Stop using my image for cheap content,” he wrote, his words short and blistering.

He warned that those “sowing graphics to soil Mama Ida’s reputation” could end up in court.

The tone: terse. Almost cinematic. Like a courtroom drama teaser.

He then reminded Kenyans of a long history.

Gaucho says he’s been a family friend to the Odingas since 2013, when Rosemary Odinga appointed him chair of the Starehe Youth Volunteer team for Baba’s campaign.

He calls Ida Odinga a mother figure, loyal and fierce. And he compared her to the late Winnie Mandela – a symbol of resilience and respect.

He said loyalty is the secret to his bond with the Odingas – not ambition, power, or optics.

But on social media, few took the sermon seriously.

On TikTok, one creator mashed up the photos with Lion King music. “Ida Odinga: Queen of Hearts,” the caption read.

Some comments got sharper. A controversial blogger previously claimed Gaucho was essentially Mama Ida’s “Ben 10”.

That stirred fresh meme fire. Politicians and influencers alike rushed to deny it. One MP insisted he’d never encouraged online attacks on Mama Ida, saying he respects her like a mother.

Back in the original birthday post, Gaucho noted this was his first birthday without Raila Odinga, the family patriarch. That gave the photos emotional weight amid the jokes.

Yet the net barely paused.

Memes spread fast. A cheeky TikTok soundbite of cartoon cake layers dipped into political commentary. One reel matched the cake-feeding with a slow-motion soundtrack: “The Taste of Influence”.
