Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Kamotho had a hard time after she was booed in Kagumo town on Thursday, September 12.
It all began when Waiguru who had just opened a market in the area told the residents that she was not going to allow the area MCA David Kinyua to address the gathering on the premise the latter has been insulting him.
“ Whether you boo or shout, you can rest assured that I cannot allow an MCA to continue insulting me as he wants,” said Waiguru.
It is then the crowd became unruly demanding the Kinyua address the gathering.
The incessant pressure forced Waiguru to bow to pressure and invited Kinyua to speak.
Calm returned after Kinyua said he supported governor’s development agenda and urged the youths to calm down.
However, the crowd had another round of cheer after the MCA told Waiguru he was in Tanga Tanga as per the wishes of his residents.
“Wewe Governor maendeleo unajaribu kidogo lakini wananchi wametwambia twende TangaTanga. Tumuunge mkono Rais na naibu wake William Samoei Ruto” (Governor you are trying in matters development. But wananchi have asked us to support Tanga Tanga, Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto).
This follows a day after the Waiguru’s public pronouncement of her tacit support for Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) saying proposals to expand the government will bolster chances of inclusion of smaller tribes in government.
