Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri Denies Gay Rumours, Bets KSh10M

Kasarani MP and SportPesa boss Ronald Karauri has fired back at explosive online rumours claiming he once had a romantic relationship with a man – insisting the “gay exposé” is totally false and politically motivated.

The saga began this week when prominent blogger Edgar Obare reposted screenshots on Instagram from a man claiming to be Karauri’s former male lover.

That user alleged he faced threats and intimidation after their breakup – even suggesting his brother was being followed.

The story quickly went viral, igniting speculation about the Kasarani MP’s private life across X, Instagram, and Facebook feeds.

Obare’s channels – known for celebrity scoops – stoked the fire, prompting waves of memes, rumours and heated debate online.

But Karauri didn’t stay silent. In a video posted on social media, the flamboyant MP laughed off the allegations. He called them fabricated, blamed the timing on political enemies, and declared:

“I am extremely straight — the straightest guy you will ever meet.”

To prove his point – and mock the buzz – Karauri literally put cash on the table. He challenged Obare to release any alleged footage by 5 p.m. Wednesday, offering KSh10 million if such a video existed.

When the deadline passed with no proof, he said KSh8 million would go to his charity and KSh2 million to support a local boxing event instead.

Fans and critics alike exploded online – some praising Karauri’s brazen confidence and showmanship (“boss move”, one commentator wrote), others egging for more transparency from public figures.

For now, no compromising video has emerged, and Obare hasn’t publicly released any new evidence.

But the story is far from dead: in Kenya’s charged digital gossip culture, allegations – even when denied – can stick like glue.
