How frequently do you hear about a patient stealing the ambulance that brought him to the hospital?
A man from the US state of New York is currently being held by authorities after he stole the ambulance that took him to the hospital.
The 47-year-old male was admitted to a Manhattan hospital on Thursday, April 30 for observation, according to Daily News.
When the man departed the hospital at around 5 a.m., the ambulance he had been riding in is said to have been parked outside unlocked, unoccupied, and with the keys in the ignition.
When police used GPS to locate the ambulance and stop it after the man had driven off for 40 kilometers, the driver refused to stop.
The man’s attempt to drive past a tire-spiking device set up by police resulted in the deflation of the ambulance’s tyres, and the car was eventually halted.
