On September 29, 2019, a vehicle slipped from the ferry and sunk into Indian Ocean. Inside the vehicle were two souls, Mariam Kighenda and her four-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu.
Now, MM Shah academy, the school where Amanda schooled has compiled photos that capture the awesome moments the bubbly Amanda enjoyed with her colleagues.
From classroom to extra-curricular activities, it was evident Amanda enjoyed herself and left an indelible mark in the hearts of her dad, teachers and classmates.
“Sadly enough the most painful goodbyes are the ones that are left unsaid and never explained.
As we lay our dear Amanda to rest today, we will look at the #Warmmoments we shared with her.
The radiant smile will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace Amanda,” read the message on the school’s Facebook page on October 19.
The memorabilia consists a series of photographs with Carrie Underwood’s song See You Again playing in the background.
Amanda and her mum Kighenda were laid to rest Saturday, October 19 in Makueni in a ceremony attended by family led by John Wambua, Amanda’s father and husband of Kighenda and political leaders including Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
