Kahawa Wendani Member of County Assembly (MCA) Cyrus Omondi is dead.
His death was confirmed by both the Liaison Officer at the Kenyan High Commission in India, Rono Kosigi on Wednesday evening.
Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu also confirmed Omondi’s death.
The Jubilee Party MCA was found dead in his room with reports he suffered a heart attack.
Omondi, who bore the nickname ‘Gearbox’ was attending a workshop in the company of his colleagues from the Education Committee at the time of his death.
Omondi, a former mechanic rose to prominence after he garnered 5087 votes compared to his rival Michael Irungu’s 1902 votes in the 2017 poll.
The news excited Kenyans as few expected Omondi, a Luo to triumph in a predominantly Kikuyu area.
