Daddy Owen sued by Congolese musician over KSh 2 million unpaid royalties

Congolese singer and songwriter Reagan Sarkozi has sued Kenyan gospel singer Owen Mwatia popularly known as Daddy Owen over KSh2 million in damages for unpaid royalties and failing to honour their pact.

According to the Sarkozi, he wrote and arranged Wewe ni Mungu and Vanity songs for Daddy Owen but the Kenyan artiste allegedly refused to pay him or even give credits.

Sarkozi also known as Mwana wa Nzambe went rampage on social media bashing Daddy Owen for crediting fellow Kenyan artiste Pitson for writing Vanity which in real sense, he wrote the better part of it with Pitson only writing the last part of the song that has accumulated over 2 million views on YouTube.

“Daddy Owen you need to give me credit for Wewe ni Mungu. I wrote the song, you excluded me from the credits and did not pay me. You also gave credit to Pitson for writing Vanity yet I’m the one who wrote it. Pitson only finished the last bit,” he said in a video.

In the court documents, Sarkozi also claims that Daddy Owen engaged his RB band to play for him at Koroga Festival in 2014/2015 but never paid for the services.
