Anjlee Gadhvi, the K24 news anchor who valiantly battled cancer for years, is dead.

Anjlee succumbed to metastatic liver cancer at the Aga Khan Hospital on the afternoon of Friday, January 10.

News of her death was announced by her boss Peter Opondo.

“Oh my friend Anjlee Gadhvi, you fought that cancer beast with all your might. You did it for your kids, husband. Never lost hope.

You always smiled through the pain and insisted on coming to work even at your weakest points. We believed you were winning…until now! RIP my friend,” mourned Opondo.

The deceased, who wowed Kenyans with her cheerful demeanor, was diagnosed with liver cancer back in 2013.

She pursued several treatment options which proved too expensive forcing her to make a public appeal.

She was able to raise over KSh 6 million within hours, Kameme FM reported.

In 2019, she returned to the screens to host a new show dubbed The Cancer Lie which highlighted the painful journeys of cancer patients.

The deceased maintained a steady smile as she battled the monster that has harvested high flying Kenyans among them Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, Joyce Laboso, MP Ken Okoth among others.

The media fraternity and netizens posted solemn messages celebrating the anchor eulogised by many as ‘joyous and empathetic.’
