Woman arrested after faking pregnancy to steal baby at KNH

A woman, Elizabeth Musembi who allegedly faked pregnancy with intentions of stealing a baby at the Kenyatta National Hospital labor ward in Nairobi County has been arrested.

The woman visited the Hospital on Thursday, September 23 posing as a pregnant patient who wanted to be attended on.

In order to go through without being blocked, Musembi carried an antenatal booklet but unfortunately her plan failed and was nabbed by the referral hospital’s security guards who detained her at the facility’s police post before informing police officers.

Upon interrogation by the officers, Musembi revealed that she opted to steal a baby after she tried multiple times to conceive but never got successful.

The woman further stated that she also wanted to plead with the facility to give her any abandoned kid to take care of.

There is a woman who promised to deliver me a baby she did not want but she later went missing after our encounter…I hear there are abandoned babies who can be given to women who need them,” she claimed.
