West Pokot woman weds ‘Holy Spirit’ in unique wedding

Elizabeth Nalem, a mother of six from West Pokot has left netizens in awe after marrying the “Holy Spirit”.

The woman narrated that God appeared to her in a dream and asked her to abandon her husband.

The unusual wedding attracted curious residents who flocked at the ceremony to witness the happenings.

Dressed in an appealing white bridal gown, the woman stepped in to the event in style while her friends accompanied her back to back

To kick off the big day, a sermon was served by pastor Albert Rumaita, who afterwards blessed her as she opened a new life chapter.

After the ceremony, Elizabeth confessed about being a worldly person for many years but had changed and decided to serve the Almighty.

“Today, I am one of those who have received the word of God. I have faced difficulties, and it made me look for God,” She said during an interview with journalists.


KAPENGURIA WOMAN LEFT MANY IN SHOCK AFTER WEDDING WITH HOLY SPIRITA mother of six yesterday afternoon shocked residents of Makutano town in Kapenguria West pokot when a mother of six emerged in the afternoon with a single car with loud music and dozens of troops dancing over what later came to be marriage between the lady and holy spirit.Elizabeth Nalem, dressed in a white wedding gown and accompanied by friends and faithful danced as they made grand entrance to the town. Residents who had gathered were shocked by the unique event. However many onlookers jammed the area where the event was being held and it was shock as the bride was set to get “married to Holy Spirit”. In the ceremony the woman did not take any wedding vows,instead the presiding pastor gave a summon and prayed for her. After the pastor the woman said she had served the world for many years and now she is a changed woman ready to serve her God and that the “Holy Spirit” drove her to pastor Albert Rumaita who had to buy the wedding gown for her organize the wedding and escort her to the wedding ceremony which was held at Chelanga gardens. The mother of six who works for the Kapenguria municipality was accompanied by her work mates and business people who cheered her up as she took the vows. She claimed she consulted her husband to allow her do the wedding but the husband was against and went ahead to do the wedding. Her husband, Joshua Nalem while speaking outside the venue, said he was shocked by the turn of events and that his wife decided to abandoned their matrimonial bed and ‘marry’ at the church. He added that his wife had been waking up at three in the morning to pray and when he questioned her actions she moved out of their home to neighbouring homestead. The Pastor Albert Rumaita tied the knot said the world might be coming to an end and he had no option but to tore the line and do what the lady requested him to do. Rumaita said he was forced to buy the wedding gown for her together with a robe which she wore after the wedding. Residents flouted Covid-19 regulations which prohibits huge gatherings and non-wearing of facemasks aimed at preventing the spread of the disease.

She further thanked Rumaita who she said took part in making the ceremony successful as he hired vehicles and organized the ceremony held at Chelangaa gardens.

Elizabeth also revealed that she had an earlier conversation with her husband Joshua Nalem concerning her marriage.

The mother of six said that her husband upon hearing her story was against it but that never stopped her either.

However, Joshua was shocked by the wedding saying he knew nothing about it.

My wife used to go to church, and what she has decided to do today is shocking. I can’t understand,” Joshua said.

Joshua explained that she used to wake up at 3 am to pray and all of a sudden decided to abandon their matrimonio home after he questioned her about her actions.

She is my wife, and I paid the dowry. We have six children. Our firstborn just completed Form Four the other day,” he said.

While speaking to journalists pastor Rumaita disclosed that he had to accomplish what the woman asked for.
