Gengetone’s musical group Sailors has surprised Kenyans after releasing a new Gospel single titled: Jesu ni Mwathani (Gikuyu for Jesus is Lord).
In the song which has clocked 317K views since it was released three days ago, the rappers sing about the treacherous journey of hardship before their breakthrough in music. They also encourage their fans to keep hope alive as their day was coming.
“God umenipa peace flani/then umenishikilia toka mbali…kama ni chuo mguu tupu kama punda..” goes one of the lines
The song seems to have appealed to their fans if the comments are anything to go by.
Not long ago, the group was in soup with The Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua over explicit content.
“The songs Tetema and Wamlambez that we have restricted are not illegal. They are just not suitable for children.
“Just the same way beer is not illegal, but there is an age restriction on alcohol consumption to protect children,” said Mutua.
Well, it seems the group heeded Mutua’s advice.
