Waititu ranked worst performing governor in new survey

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been ranked the worst performing governor by a United Kingdom-based advisory firm.

The governors were ranked based on their performances on key areas such as health and infrastructure.

The results of the survey conducted by All African Advisors between June and August 2019 were announced during an event at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

The survey which involved a devolution assessment poll, noted infrastructure development was a leading priority for many constituents and carried the highest impact on determining the effectiveness of the county governments.

The same survey ranked Governors Alfred Mutua, Wycliffe Oparanya and Mike Sonko as top three performers.

Other governors who performed poorly include Homa Bay’s Cyprian Awiti, Busia’s Sospeter Ojamoong’ and Lamu’s Fahim Twaha.

The survey carried out between June and August 2019 included a self-assessment questionnaire, field verification and investigation study and public opinion poll on county performance.

Other important parameters that were taken into consideration include; infrastructure development, public participation, poverty eradication and economic growth initiatives, delivery of basic services and governor’s leadership capabilities.
