A video of an unidentified woman giving birth outside Pumwani Hospital has gone viral on social media sparking outrage.
According to reports, security guards denied the expectant mother access to the facility forcing her to deliver by the roadside outside the hospital.
The woman was rushed to the facility by a taxi operator and upon reaching the facility’s gates, the guards reportedly locked the gates and watched from the inside.
From the video, the expectant mother could be seen lying on the ground helplessly in pain.
A number of women who were around the hospital pulled out lesos and covered the woman as a number of men roughed up security personnel manning the gates.
Hospital staff reportedly came to her rescue after the uproar.
The pumwani hospital saga reminds Kenyans that ," ALL MOTHERS ARE NOT EQUAL" ……only the who's and who's mothers in the country are important .The government failed us big time— Deon giddy (@_gmutua) September 19, 2020
I am here expecting all the politicians and especially the female politicians that came out demanding #RespectOurMothers, to come out to fight for her and all mothers being denied hospital service as we speak.. we expect you to hit the streets in demonstration and demand better.— Syombua A. This is so disturbing.— KING KAKA (@RabbitTheKing) September 19, 2020
While the government is having inner wars , our mothers are dying because they can’t get a simple service like giving birth. We are becoming statistics in the eyes of our greedy politicians.
This is happening in 2020. Pumwani Hospital. Wajinga Nyinyi.
The Pumwani hospital incident is just a chilling reminder that not all mothers in Kenya are equal. Politicians are silent about the issue. It doesn’t affect them, it doesn’t add mileage to their 2022 race. Sad reality.— Xtian Dela™ (@xtiandela) September 19, 2020
For someone who was born in pumwani hospital and my mum tells me how shitty they were 🤦I was literally born at the corridor and she delivered all by herself before the doctors came to help. This has nothing to do with poor ppl it's all about shitty healthcare services we have— Mamabear (@__awesomali) September 19, 2020
Esther Passaris was sweating, panting and heaving with fury as she demonstrated because Mama Ngina had been insulted. But when a poor MOTHER is forced to give birth on a roadside, she and her minions draw the line and go to sleep. Hypocrisy of the highest order. Am still waiting for those loud mouthed women MPs to demonstrate because of the woman who gave birth outside Pumwani Hospital as the hospital management watched.— THE HUSTLERS CLERK (@Jubilee_Asilii) September 19, 2020
Ama mdomo yao inapanuliangwa saa zile Mama Ngina ametajwa?
Sad state I saw this video and found tears rolling down😭😭. A mother delivering outside Pumwani hospital with no help. When Ngeno mentioned Mama Ngina, all women from Kiambu protested but here they can't talk it. Wajinga sisi😒— Robert KE♐ 🇰🇪 🇰🇪 (@Robalyrics) September 19, 2020
We can bash out UHURUTO govt and pumwani hospital for this nonsense we face as Kenyans, but surely, the best those women surrounding there could do was to scream? At times I think Kenyans are interested in dramas more than solutions. Those women are disgrace.— STIMA YA TOKEN (@stima_ya_token) September 19, 2020

Where are those Mt Kenya women who threatened to strip naked claiming to defend their fellow woman Mama Ngina who was insulted to go and strip outside Pumwani hospital if truly all women are equal,?— Remmy Wanjala Lite (@Remmy_w) September 19, 2020
