A section of Kenyans online has raised concerns after President’s Strategic Communications Unit deleted photos taken during a Cabinet meeting that Deputy President William Ruto was in attendance.

The photos which were uploaded on State House’s Twitter and Facebook pages were deleted shortly thereafter, something that irked DP Ruto’s diehard supporters.

Before being pulled down, DP’s supporters had noticed him in attendance and had gone ahead to hail his presence in a manner that eclipsed everything else about the meeting.

The meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday, March 19 resulted to the Cabinet agreeing to a request by the African Union (AU) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to have Kenya host African Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (Africa CDC).

Following the agreement, China pledged to fund the construction of a KSh 8.3 billion building to house the facility.
Members of the public went on to question his absence especially at a time the country was facing a potentially devastating public health crisis.

Here are some of the reactions that followed the incident:

The deputy president has missed several high-level meeting culminating to rumours he was being sidelined. The DP was absent at the National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Kenyatta on March 13, 2020.

He was also not part of a briefing of the National Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19 that was held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 even raising more concerns.
