South Africa: Woman delivers 10 babies at one birth

A South Africa woman Gosiame Thamara Sithole has broken the Guinness world record for multiple births after delivering ten babies at one birth.

The 37-year-old delivered the decuplets, six boys and 4 girls, on Monday, night June 7 through through a cesarean section in Pretorian hospital.

The mother was expecting eight children as the antenatal scan had indicated but luckily got two more during birth.

Initially there were six children. Only to find that the other two were in the wrong tube. My legs were painful. The doctors did further scans, and they found the children were in the wrong tube. That was sorted and I have been okay since then. I can’t wait for my children,” said the woman.

According to Pretoria News, the woman is now a mother twelve cute babies as she previously had two twins.

Her husband Teboho Tsotetsi said his wife’s pregnancy was purely natural as she was not using any fertility treatment.

We now have seven boys and three girls. She gave birth at seven months and seven weeks,” he said.

She has broken a record previously held by 25-year-old Malian woman Halima Cissy who delivered nonuplets

Moroccan authorities confirmed that all babies were doing well.

The nonuplets, five girls and four boys, were delivered through a cesarean section.
