Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli has said Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is the only route a politician from the Western Kenya region can defeat Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 poll.

Atwoli claimed DP Ruto had accumulated a lot of money through corruption and neither ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi nor Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula could match the war chest.

“ If Musalia, or Wetangula faces off with Ruto, he’ll win by 8am. These two are no match to DP Ruto who has accumulated money through corruption. The only way they (Mudavadi or Wetangula) can get the top seat is through the BBI,” said Atwoli.

Atwoli was speaking in Kakamega during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) popularization meeting that brought together leaders from the region and other parts of Kenya.

The COTU boss asked Musalia Mudavadi to take advantage of the current cold relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy to restore his friendship with the president.

Awoli claimed Uhuru and Mudavadi were great friends before Ruto ruined the friendship.

“The man who separated the two friends is none other than William Ruto as he did not want Musalia near the president.

Now that Ruto has been kicked out, take advantage and return to your friend,” said Atwoli to the cheering crowd.

DP Ruto and his allies have maintained the popularisation meetings were uncalled for given no one was opposed to the BBI.

A number of the Tanga Tanga politicians have also claimed the BBI process is a ploy by some politicians to retain power and relevancy.
