Fresh details have emerged on the number of people injured in the accident involving Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.

The 6.45 am accident happened along Nairobi-Naivasha road at Magina area n Kiambu county.

According to a police report, six people sustained serious injuries while 12 others were slightly injured in the accident that involved three vehicles a Prado, a Saloon car and a Matatu.

The Matatu collided head-on with the Prado carrying Tuju after hitting the Saloon car from the rear.

“It happened that motor vehicle registration number KCS 235S was being driven from Naivasha towards Nairobi and upon reaching the location of the ca ident it slowed down to allow another vehicle which was ahead of it to branch to a feeder road on the right side of the road,” read the statement in part.

“It was hit on the rear side by a motor vehicle registration number KCH 051J Matatu. As the Matatu was trying to avoid hitting the said vehicle it swerved to the other traffic lane thereby colliding head-on with the Toyota Prado,” said the report.

The police report notes, among those seriously injured include Tuju, his bodyguard Charles Oyaro, his driver Austin Oindo, the Matatu driver and two others.

Those injured are admitted at Kijabe mission hospital in stable condition apart from the Matatu driver who is on life support machine.


All vehicles involved in the accident were towed to the station awaiting inspection.
