The film industry is mourning following the sudden death of Swahili actress Pretty Mutave.

The news of her sudden death was made public by Citizen TV news anchors Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla.

“Japo kazi ya Mungu haina makosa lakini msiba hauna mazoea. Pretty Mutave kipaji chako kikawe nuru kwa malaika.

“Mola ailaze roho yako pema peponi Inshallah. Heshima na kipaji chako vitadumu milele,” Rashid Abdalla wrote on Instagram.

On her side, Lulu noted that they had plans but God had better plans.

“We had plans but God had better plans. Rest well, rest with the Angels pretty..Inallilahi wa ina illayhi Rajiun,” she wrote.

The actress is best known for her role in TV drama series Maza and Aziza.

She has also starred in several films among them Udhalimu, Arosto, Kijakazi and Moyo.


The late actress was last seen active on her social media pages on August 30.

At the time of publishing the cause of death was yet to be established.

Mutave’s death came two months after Popular Citizen TV actor Charles Bukeko known to many as Papa Shirandula passed on.

Shirandula died aged 58 on July 18, 2020 at the Karen Hospital.
