Peter Mugure: KDF officer accused of killing wife, children detained for 21 days

Peter Mugure, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer who is accused of murdering his wife and two children has been detained for 21 days to allow for investigations.

Mugure and his alleged accomplice Collins Pamba, a cleaner at Laikipia Air Base appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai on Monday, November 18.

Mugure and Pamba arrived in court escorted by DCI and KDF officers. In court, Mugure wore a blank stare synonymous with members of the disciplined forces.

Senior prosecutor Peter Mailanyi argued if released on bond might interfere with the investigation since he is a senior officer in the military.

On his side, defence lawyer Mwangi Wanjohi opposed the duration arguing the two had not yet been formally charged.

Pamba, who is the second accused was not represented by a lawyer.

The case will be mentioned on December 9.

Mugure was detained at the Nanyuki police station.
